ABSTRACT

The focus of this study delves into the influence social media network on  academic performance using students and lecturers of  Lagos State University. Simple random sampling was used to select 240 respondent who are lecturers and students of  Lagos State University. Data was presented and analyzed using frequency and tables. Chi-Square Statistic tool was used to test the Hypothesis. Findings from the study reveals that social media has a negative effect on academic performance of student. The study therefore recommends that students should be guided in their used of social media networks. They should not be addicted to social media to the point of letting it intercept their focus and concentration on their academic pursuit.
